SSS Certification

Our specially trained and certified SSS Consultants participate in an extensive and on-going training program, to ensure that they have the latest information on intimacy related issues concerning cancer patients. Our 44 hand-selected Certified SSS Consultants represent women all over the United States.

During the first of many training sessions, the Consultants were given an overview of breast cancer development, diagnosis and treatment. A manual was created to act as a study guide for our Consultants from current research articles and books about cancer and intimacy.

Jan Simpson, a registered nurse, currently working at the Franklin Square Medical Center as the Clinical Coordinator for Breast Services was an integral part of developing the SSS training program. Jan is currently pursuing a Master of Liberal Arts degree in Ethics. She graduated with Honors from Johns Hopkins University in 1997 with a degree in Psychology. Jan has also worked as an operating room nurse and the Clinical Coordinator for the Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery of the Breast Center at Mercy Medical Center. Jan has published many articles on breast surgery as well as speaking for such organizations as the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Jan is a Certified Breast Health Specialist. Jan was able to give our Consultants a practitioner perspective of the effects breast cancer can have on a woman's sexual health.

Dr. Catherine Sherwood - Puzzello also played a large role in helping our SSS Consultants to better understand the effects cancer can have on a woman and her partner's relationship . Dr. Sherwood-Puzzello is a Clinical Assistant Professor for the Department of Applied Health Science at Indiana University. Dr. Sherwood-Puzzello has been a community health educator for 13 years. She received her H.S.D. from Indiana University and is also a Certified Health Education Specialist. Her areas of instruction include: Nature of Cancer, Human Sexuality, College Practicum in Human Sexuality Education, Field Experience in Public Health Education, Personal Health, Community Health, and Advance Techniques in Public Health Education. Her research interests include: human sexuality, cancer prevention and education and community health education. Dr. Sherwood-Puzzello was able to give our Consultants a health educator's perspective of the effects breast cancer can have on a woman's sexual health.

Our Certified SSS Consultants are required to pass a comprehensive exam annually to maintain their certification. All 44 Consultants continue to amaze us with their capacity to learn and their eagerness to help women affected by this debilitating disease.

Our Consultants are "experts" on our full line of intimacy products and how they can help any woman add confidence and fun back into their bedroom, even women affected by cancer.
